April Eight grew up in the Midwest, surrounded by music and nature. The youngest of five, she sang along to everything from The Beatles to the Great American Songbook around the family piano, while exploring nearby lakes and woods, cultivating a lifelong love for the natural world.
In her 20s, April fronted an alt-rock band, touring the U.S. and Europe, performing on BBC Radio One, at Lollapalooza, and recording at Prince’s Paisley Park and John Mellencamp’s Belmont Mall. A talented songwriter, her work was featured on HBO’s True Blood and TNT’s Men of a Certain Age.
Since 2008, April has channeled her passion for song and storytelling into April Eight, blending original songs and fairy tales for families. In 2016, she launched the highly-rated April Eight Songs & Stories Podcast, where her enchanting tales and songs have garnered hundreds of thousands of listens worldwide.
April was an early-grades teacher for 14 years, with a certification from the Association for a Healing Education and extensive training through AWSNA Renewal.
April’s unique blend of child-engagement, musicality, storytelling, and wonder comes to life in her performances, captivating audiences of all ages with her magical songs and tales.
