The Cinci Sings’ April Mann is a Singing Mamas® International Community Leader. The Singing Mamas® model is evidence-based, with research showing that group singing can significantly reduce symptoms of postnatal depression and increase feelings of wellbeing and connection.

  • A 2020 research study led by Dr. Daisy Fancourt and colleagues at University College London found that mothers experiencing postnatal depression saw a significant reduction in symptoms after attending 10 weeks of singing groups, compared to other forms of support.

  • Benefits observed include lowered stress levels, increased social connection, improved mood, and even improved bonding with babies.

  • Singing in groups also supports regulation of breathing and nervous system responses, boosting feelings of calm and wellbeing.

The Mamas Sing

weekly song circles for new mothers, mothers-to-be, and their littles in and around Cincininati, ohio

Songs for soothing, bonding, and belonging.

Come sing with your little one in a cozy, heart-centered circle of mamas and babies. In this sweet weekly gathering, we’ll share lullabies, folk tunes, and simple songs taught by ear that nourish connection and calm—no experience needed, just a voice. Mamas are welcome with or without your baby. We’ll meet for seven weeks plus the free session on May 13th. Of course, it’s okay if you can’t make it to every session.

“Singing together is at the heart of being human and the social bonds we make. When we sing together, our hearts start to beat together. Singing is fundamental to bonding. It offers an experience of community that has no equivalent.“

Led by songleader April Eight, this is a space for rest, rhythm, community, and song. Come as you are. Crying babies and sleepy mamas are welcome.

After we sing, we’ll share a cup of tea and a nibble.

Who: Mothers, female or gender-nonconforming allies, and littles.
