I remember when I wrote “The Night of the Fairy IceSkating Ball” on my mandolin. I was so excited about it that I felt like I was walking on air for days afterward. The joy of creation filled me up and buoyed me along. I couldn’t wait to share it. I think I barreled into the office of my daughter’s Waldorf school and played it for the unexpecting admin team. I couldn’t hold back. Ha! This song is in one of my favorite episodes of the April Eight Songs & Stories Podcast, “Grammy and the Star Soup”. I really love that little batch of winter tales. I feel like a found some magic there. Tonight, I painted Sar and Neiva from the “Two Sisters and the Wolf” episodes series for the first time. I like my characters to live in children’s imaginations, be the same color as them, have their same hair, and their same eyes. But The Two Sisters were in my mind’s eye this evening and I felt called to put them on the page. Since they are fairies, I want them to feel like they are moving. It’s crazy times and I find painting to be so therapeutic. I have a new story almost completed, I just have to find the last, enigmatic puzzle piece.
