Meet the Pixie Peddler

Roxie and I have a little song we want to share with you today.

“The Pixie Peddler” was the very first song I wrote when I “became” April Eight. You can read more about that magical moment right here. This song fills my heart up with joy when I sing it and I am so excited to share it with you today. Roxie and I made a little video of the first verse for you. I put all the lyrics here for you too so you can read the little story that is the song because, well, I think they are a lot of fun and the more fun, the merrier. Right?

Of course, we hear of the Pixie Peddler in our Jemi story, Jemi and the Lost Crown, but we actually get to meet him in this week’s story, Thom and the Golden Butterfly. Who knows if we will meet him again? I do! And we most definitely will!

But for now, say hello to my old friend, The Pixie Peddler.

The Pixie Peddler by April Eight

He sings, “Hey Ho Diddly Dee Hay Ho Diddly Do… “Hey Ho… Something special for you.”

The Pixie Peddler came to town
He brought three rings from a circus clown
He sold the fairies what they liked best,
A bright red feather from a robin’s breast

He sings Hey ho diddley dee, Hey ho diddley do, Hey ho diddley dee,
I’ve something special for you.

He says, “Miss Mousy what will it be today,
a velvet ribbon for your lovely tail?
Sir Gopher look what I have for you,
a peppercorn for your evening stew.
He’s got sassafras tea to cure hiccups
Porcupine quills and blackberry ink,
Salt from the wild seas of Zanzibar
and dew by the dropper to drink.

He sings Hey ho diddley dee, Hey ho diddley do, Hey ho diddley dee,
I’ve something special for you.
The Pixie Peddler bowed in fear,
when the Queen of the Fairies did appear,
But all she wanted was golden thread
For the wedding gown of the Fairy Princess.
With a blade of grass around his waist,
A jacket made of Queen Anne’s Lace,
Dapper, charming loved by all,
The Pixie Peddler came to call!

He sings Hey ho diddley dee, Hey ho diddley do, Hey ho diddley dee,
I’ve something special for you.
